The New Jeans

The new jeans for 2011.
About five minutes ago, I saw very similar ones in TeenVogue.
Don't toss those skinnies away yet, but you better get yourself a pair of high waisted flare jeans.

Spring Shoe Trend!

Well, I would say late 09 early 10, we had a lot of platform.. heels.
We still have a few lingering around like these Miu Miu heels,
but most of them have gone flat, with a 1-3 inch platform. Like the Prada shoes, to the right.
Though they took some time getting used to, I really like them now.

Concept Korea

Boots!

I still feel as though I can not stop seeing and raving over boots with buckles.
I would have to say my favorite shoes, would be boots.
They are so diverse.
I love boots. Speaking of which I saw the coolest ones yesterday.
I think, for the new year, I will post, best boots of 2010, to commemorate, their awesomeness.
I still have to look through pre-fall collections, I will get to that soon.

I just thought this was a super awesome picture from Concept Korea

Suspenders!

First of all, I would like to say, I love suspenders.
Whether they are worn up or down, both ways create to totally different looks,
they are really awesome.
They are now becoming a pretty big trend.
I have noticed them in quite a few shoots, and in chain stores.
Plus many people have taken to wearing them on the street.

When they are worn down, "Sagging" , they provide a rebel kind of look.
Of course, they may just add a little excitement to the outfit,
if paired with something softer
Worn up, you instantly think nerd, but nerd can be very chic and super cute.

Either way, the suspenders are good buy.

Today

Today:

The Good, The Ah-Mazing, and The Fab
Alexander McQueen, I loved, loved, loved Sarah Burton's collection.
It was mind blowing, she is really amazing.
Chanel. I love you Karl Lagerfeld. This dude makes my life.
Pure, brilliance. Just raw genius.
Big fuzzy sweaters, and beautiful white everything.

The bad, The awful, and The downright wrong
Floral. What kind of a trend is this?
I admit some of it is ok, like a little rose, but pure floral, is grandmotherly.
Now, I am going to take a minute to talk about the trends, in real human life,
#1 Uggs, i just dont understand. Who ever designed these shoes, was not thinking very straight. They are big, chunky, and not not not cute at all. maybe, comfy but you dont wear slippers out of the house do you?
#2 Sweatpants, what in you right mind, people, would posses you to leave your house in sweatpants.
#3. Flip flops, please, keep flip flops to the beach and the beach only, not the boardwalk, or 2 blocks from the beach, the beach ONLY.
#4 Sweatpants, paired with Uggs, or flip flops, why? this look is not "just got out of bed" its "lazy, I haven't showered in three days"

The Trench

Well, we can count this as a soon to be major trend....drum roll...
The Trenchcoat! Yay! I think this will definitely be one of the best trends,
Although, winter is putting out some really great ones so far (big sweaters, fluffy, furry boots,
and coats, and one of my faves, knee high socks!)
Also Fashion week! and Fashions night out! coming up really soon!
Fashion week starts starts this thursday and Fashions night out is this Friday!!!!

"This year Vogue has managed to stretch Fashion's Night Out from one evening to a full week of excitement. It begins with New York City's biggest ever public fashion show in Lincoln Center on September 7. you can watch the show live online, which is free and will probably be a much more comfortable situation than the alcohol-free crowded-subway feel the live show might have. Also, you can watch Vogue's André Leon Talley — the best reality-TV judge in the history of reality TV — host a live webcast of the show on CBS.com with Vogue-approved slashie Hanneli Mustparta, the model and blogger. Their webcast begins at 7.

The excitement continues on September 10, of course, when Fashion's Night Out takes place at retailers around the city. If you don't want to leave your home and enter the clusterfuck and gridlock that are likely to occur again this year, with even more stores participating than last, you can stay home and read Tavi on the Internet! A source close to Barneys tells us she's flying in with her dad to tweet Fashion's Night Out for the store, and post live to its blog BSides on Barneys.com.

And if you sleep through all that, you can watch everything you missed and then some on CBS on Tuesday, September 14, when the one-hour documentary special on the planning of Fashion's Night Out airs at 10 p.m. So far we know the footage includes lots of fancy early-morning breakfast meetings, cameos by international Vogue editors, and probably lots more screen time of Fashion's Night Out queen Anna Wintour." Shoes.

Shoe Trends!
Those opened toed, lace up booties,
are striking again.
You may have thought they burned out, but think again.

Doc Marten style boots, are increasing in popularity,
well, Doc Marten's themselves, and similar styles.
They are very stylish, so can't blame them.

Bags/Purses.
This is not a topic I usually talk about,
cause, truthfully, I don't think its that interesting.
Yes, some bags are very unique, but not that often.
So, back to the matter at hand.
Louis Vuitton, tends to be the trend setter in the bag department.
Now, at the moment there are about 3 designs, that you see, from LV.
One is the typical bag, (Monogram Canvas, and Monogram Multicolore)
with the LV and little flower pattern things stamped all over it.
Now, this is in the traditional brown, or with a little bit of rainbow.
Dooney and Bourke, just came out with a very similar bag, same style,
just with DB stamped all over it.
We also have a Louis Vuitton bag,
that had graffiti writing, saying Louis Vuitton.
This style had become a very touristy type bag,
for different cities, all over the world

Prime Minister of UK

"Minister in the U.K. Pushes to Ban Photoshopping and Underweight Models
By Amy Odell
U.K. equalities minister Lynne Featherstone will hold a series of meetings with fashion magazines and advertisers to discuss ways to promote images of healthy bodies to young people. Featherstone believes underweight models shouldn't be shot for ads and editorials, and that the images shouldn't be retouched. She would like to see health warnings on digitally altered images so viewers know they aren't real. "Advertisers and magazine editors have a right to publish what they choose, but women and girls also have the right to be comfortable in their own bodies. At the moment, they are being denied that," she said."

-The Cut

Way to go UK!

Couture, the dying art.

I briefly mentioned Couture in my last post and I would love to talk about it more.
One of the first things that pops into my mind, when I think of fashion,
is Haute Couture, alongside, Models and Magazines. Now, I did some research to find out what "true" Couture is, and here are some sniblies, of what I found

"Haute couture (French for "high sewing" or "high dressmaking"; pronounced [ot kutyʁ]) refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing."

"In France, the term haute couture is protected by law and is defined by the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Paris based in Paris, France. Their rules state that only "those companies mentioned on the list drawn up each year by a commission domiciled at the Ministry for Industry are entitled to avail themselves" of the label haute couture. The criteria for haute couture were established in 1945 and updated in 1992.

To earn the right to call itself a couture house and to use the term haute couture in its advertising and any other way, members of the Chambre syndicale de la haute couture must follow these rules:

Design made-to-order for private clients, with one or more fittings.
Have a workshop (atelier) in Paris that employs at least fifteen people full-time.
Each season (i.e., twice a year), present a collection to the Paris press, comprising at least thirty-five runs/exits with outfits for both daytime wear and evening wear.

However, the term haute couture may have been misused by ready-to-wear brands since the late 1980s, so that its true meaning may have become blurred with that of prêt-à-porter (the French term for ready-to-wear fashion) in the public perception. Every haute couture house also markets prêt-à-porter collections, which typically deliver a higher return on investment than their custom clothing [citation needed]. Falling revenues have forced a few couture houses to abandon their less profitable couture division and concentrate solely on the less prestigious prêt-à-porter. These houses, such as Italian designer Roberto Capucci, all of whom have their workshops in Italy, are no longer considered haute couture.

Many top designer fashion houses, such as Chanel, use the word for some of their special collections. These collections are often not for sale or they are very difficult to purchase. Sometimes, "haute couture" is inappropriately used to label non-dressmaking activities, such as fine art, music and more.[2]"

"Haute Couture should be fun, foolish and almost unwearable" Christian Lacroix

Now, from this I have gathered, a little more about the true art of Couture.
So, I must say and many have said it well, I feel that Couture is a dying art.
Fashion is not in general dying, but it seems so different from the younger ages.
I have always thought of Couture, fashion in general, as crazy, out of the box, something you so on Runways and Magazines, but now I feel as though its on the streets to. Its not as special, it used to mean something to have a bag by Louis Vuitton or Chanel, but lots of people have them now. Fashion is still special, and a different world, but I feel it drifting mainstream, and that saddens me.
Couture especially, each year, I wait and wait for the Couture collections to come to see what fantastic ridiculousness, the designers have come up with, an each year, I see fewer and fewer names on the list of Couture Collections, and the ones left, aren't as crazy as I hoped.

On to winter

So far from the Couture Collections and the Fall Collections I have been through,
what i have caught it fuzzy boots. (seen at: Chanel and D&G, also a shoot)
Animal Print, seen in a few shoots and a few shows,
nothing major yet... but it wont be long, befor it catches on.
Also, something today just caught my attention,
Sock Garters. Yes, I said Sock Garters.
They are not big yet, but I feel a wave coming on.
(seen at: Kate Slyvester, Alexander Wang and Swan Clothing)
Also, we had this western thing going, and though it has faded a little,
it is still hanging on. Cowboy hats.
Also, These big puffy sleeves, and big fuzzy jackets,
seem to make an appereance in nearly every show.
As well as with the Couture shows.

Summer Trends

Summer is halfway through,
the fall collections out,
but, I would like to take some time to honor the trends of 2010 Summer
We saw, the future of Gladiator sandals,-or "Jesus" sandals- peeping last summer,
well, they are in full bloom now, I must admit, some trends i dont like,
I find them revolting, but in this case, this trend makes sense.
These sandals, are cute, stylish, and comfy.
they can go with almost anything.
Also, maybe its just Germany, or Europe,
and I suppose a little of America,
Ballet flats, are everywhere,
almost everyone has glatiator sandals, or flats, or both!
well, flats can look good, if done well,
but often I see them worn and scrunched, not cute.

The Beginning

Hi,
I am the fashion Seer.
I started posting my views on facebook,
then I decided to take it a step further and post on line.
Where more people have to chance to see it and read it.
I have a knack for noticing trends, as soon as the collections come out,
and I have the time, I look at them and spot the similarities, or "trends".
I then post my sightings and watch as they grow to a phenomenon.
I will try and post often but, once school comes around, I'll be quite busy.

lots of love,
FashionSeer
